Ladies Auxiliary President

Joan Williams

School time is almost here. It is time to get information out on our Voice of Democracy/Patriot's Pen program. The goals of these programs are to promote patriotism in our schools, build relationships with our educators, provide scholarships for the youth and educate the community on the value of the VFW and its Ladies Auxiliaries. Both programs are open to all children in public schools, private schools, parochial schools and home study students.

This year's theme for Patriots Pen is "Does Patriotism Still Matter" and is open to all students in the 6th-8th grades. The theme for the Voice of Democracy is: "Does my generation have a role in America's future" and is open to all students in grades 9 thru 12.

If anyone has children or knows of someone who has children that want to participate in either of these programs, please contact me and I will get all the information to you right away. All entries must be returned to VFW Ladies Auxiliary, Lomita Hall or me by November 1st.

The Ladies Auxiliary breakfast menu is changed beginning with our August 29th breakfast. It is now: potatoes O’Brien, eggs any style, ham, biscuits & gravy. Our September breakfast is on Sunday, Sept 12th. Come down and support our programs.

Our next meeting, on Sept 21,' will be our inspection night. The 4th District President and other guests will be there. Please put the 21st on your calendar and plan to attend. I hope to see lots of 1622 auxiliary members there.

Upcoming events:

Sept 6th - Labor Day BBQ

Sept 18th -4th District picnic in Gardena

Sept 20th -4th District Ladies Auxiliary POW/MIA program, back hall at 6:30PM

Sincerely,

Joan Williams
